HOW YOU CAN OWN ‘SNAKESKIN’ FOR £10 – THE RAREST OF ALL VERVE RECORDS!

'Snakeskin' (a 7" vinyl) is so rare that very few people knew of its existence until very recently! Probably less than 20 people have even listened to it!  Dave Halliwell (The Verve's manager at the time and the only person to own a copy other than the band members themselves) has decided it's time to part with his copy and give it the light of day! So now a lucky fan has a chance to own it....

Well, with an initial asking price of £5,750 (and an American fan has already shown a keen interest), you might well think “yeah, some rich fan!” - but think again!

Brian Cannon (whose sleeve designs for The Verve records in the 90's, as you know, are greatly admired by Verve fans) is handling the sale. And together with Dave they’ve very kindly agreed, via www.theverveonline.com and the friendly forum, to hold a competition that would give everyone entering the chance to own this amazing piece of Verve history. Tickets to enter the competition would be £10 each and would be personally designed by Brian. (One of Brian’s most admired designs, a ‘She’s A Superstar’ poster, recently sold on ebay for £102 !!!) So the tickets themselves have got to be worth a tenner, and will no doubt become collectors’ items in themselves.

It’s also been decided by Brian and Dave that it would be nice to hold a party for all entrants (probably sometime in January) to announce the winner of the competition. This will be held at the Honeysuckle pub in Wigan (the venue for The Verve’s first gig in 1990). And of course Brian and Dave will be there for some good ‘ole Verve talk and a beer or three! Of course, if you’re unable to make it to the party, you still have the same chance of winning Snakeskin!

We need as many people as possible to enter the competition to make it feasible. If only 50 people are interested, it ain't gonna happen! We want to listen to this song, we want an mp3 !! If a rich fan buys it, it might be lost again forever without us even hearing it!

So please let me know if you're interested in entering the competition as soon as possible by using the contact form on this website. Until we have enough support making this a viable proposition, Snakeskin will remain up for sale on ebay and could easily be snatched from our grasp! See here

To sum up, for a tenner you get a chance to win Snakeskin, a numbered ticket designed by Brian Cannon, and an invite to a party at The Honeysuckle in Wigan for a great night out with loads of Verve fans!!! (Beats a night at the movies with a tub of popcorn and a coke hands down I’d say!) And an mp3 might even come your way!

COME ON…. this will most likely make the Wigan Post if it goes ahead - so let’s make a piece of Verve history!

Please note: This competition is open to all Verve fans, whether a member of the friendly forum or not, and international entries are  welcome too!    And if you're interested in the Honeysuckle party, then don't forget to  order tickets for your friends/partners so they can come along with you!
